Obituary For James Surratt, Jr.

Spartanburg, SC – James “Boxy” Surratt, Jr., 81, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Mr. Surratt was the son of the late Mr. James W. Surratt, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Lucille Epps Surratt. He was the husband of Mrs. Millie S. Surratt. Mr. Surratt was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he was a member of the All Male Choir. James was a United States Army Korean War Veteran. Mr. Surratt retired from Mendes Container. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his cherished wife; his loving daughters, Alice “Cil” Williams and Diane Fowler both of Spartanburg, SC; his devoted son, James “Jimmy” (Carrie) Surratt, III of Spartanburg, SC; his stepchildren, Teresa Nelson, Bonita Smith and James Smith all of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other dear relatives and friends. A Celebration of the Life of James “Boxy” Surratt, Jr. will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 S. Converse St., Spartanburg, SC. Bishop J.J. Jackson will officiate. Interment will be held in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends at the home of his son, James “Jimmy” Surratt, 507 Sassafras Ct., Spartanburg, SC.
