Obituary For Kay Johnson

WASHINGTON, DC – Kay Frances Richey Johnson peacefully transitioned from this life on Friday, April 10, 2015 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Novie Richie. Kay was the wife of George Johnson, Jr. At an early age she relocated to Washington, DC, and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church. Kay was a graduate of Dunbar High School and the Federal City College. She was retired from the United States Postal Service after twenty-five years of employment. After retiring, she was employed with H & R Block as a tax preparer until her health declined. Left to cherish fond memories are: her husband; her daughter, Robin Richey-Bailey of Alexandria, VA.; her son, Anthony Richey of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Fannie L. Richie of Spartanburg, SC; her two grandchildren; her five great grandchildren; a special niece, Traci Richie Drummond of Spartanburg, SC; her two great-nieces; and other beloved siblings, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Spirit of Peace Baptist Church, Capitol Heights, Maryland. Marshall-March Funeral Home, Inc., Suitland, Maryland is in charge of arrangements.
