Romona Marie Claybrook - Hart, 95 of Madison, NC transitioned, Friday, April 12, 2024. Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Holiness Church, 703 Mt. Carmel St., Madison, NC. with service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Collins Cemetery, Madison, NC. **Live streaming will be available**
On April 12, 2024, God’s heavenly angels came down to claim one of His own. Romona Marie Claybrook Hart was born to the late Henry and Bessie Claybrook on February 20, 1929.
She was married to the late Chester Hart, Jr. and to their union included seven children, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, of which Robin Yvette Hart proceeded her in death.
Romona was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County. She graduated from the former Old Madison Colored School of Madison, NC and attended Livingstone College on a basketball scholarship. She was employed with Madison-Mayodan City Schools System for over 40 years before her retirement. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Pentecostal Holiness Church, in Madison, NC where she faithfully attended and contributed to the mission and ministries of the church as the church secretary for over 60 years, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Missionary Circle, adult Bible study class, and senior choir. For many years, she served on other church committees until her declining health.
In addition to her husband and granddaughter, Romona is proceeded in death by her siblings, James, Conrad, and Paul Claybrook, Elizabeth Goolsby, Minnie Richardson, Bessie Carlene Scales, and Dorothy Ann McNeil.
Left to cherish her memory includes her children, Ronald Hart (Vergnia) of Eden, NC; Harold Hart (Margaret) of Stoneville, NC; Kenneth Hart of Madison, NC; Brian Hart (Shonna) of )Winston Salem, NC; Glenda Hester of Greensboro, NC; Wanda Jean Hart and Romona Lisa Hart-Lowe of the home, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, her lifelong friends, Mother Hazel Moore and Min. Dorothy D. Herbin, and a host of family and friends.
