Eleanor Warren Myers an Angel who was born, transitioned peacefully into a new beginning, on April 13, 2024 at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by Love.
She was born October 9, 1945, in Ivor, Virginia to the late Lloyd Thomas Warren and Josephine Williams Warren. She was the third of four children. The family later moved to Richmond, Virginia (Providence Park Community) and became members of Providence Park Baptist Church where she was baptized.
Upon graduating from Virginia Randolph High School in 1964, she attended Morgan State University where she received her B.A. in English. It was there that she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Delta Chapter in 1965.
After graduating, she began her career at C & P Telephone Co, (Bell Atlantic/Verizon), as the first African-American Group Chief Operator in Richmond. She later retired after 30 years of service.
Upon retirement, she embarked on a new career at The National Kidney Foundation where she started, built, and directed the screening program known as, KEEP. KEEP became her passion. As the director of the program, she orchestrated a network of medical professionals and volunteers who facilitated kidney screenings throughout Virginia.
Eleanor married the love of her life, Wellford Myers, Jr., in 1971. From this union, they had two loving children, seven adored grandchildren and one great grandchild. Throughout her life, she was also a very humble and giving person, who anonymously donated to many charities and organizations.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori M. Jamison; one son, Wellford R. Myers, III; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; sister, Gloria W. Evans (Frank); 8 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. We gained an Angel who will remain in our hearts and minds for eternity.

Remains rest at Scott’s Funeral Home 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, at Providence Park Baptist Church, 468 E. Ladies Mile Rd. Dr. Jerome C. Ross, officiating. An Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority “Ivy Beyond the Wall” ceremony to be performed at 10:30 a.m. prior to service. Interment Roselawn Memory Gardens, 13389 Mountain Rd., Glen Allen, Virginia 23059.
