Taylor M. Farris, Sr. 68, of Martinsville, VA, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Sunday, April 14,2024 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born April 18, 1955, in Martinsville to the late Joseph Bowles, and Mary Farris Ramey. In addition to his parents, Taylor was preceded in death by one daughter, Darsell F. Schoolfield, and his stepfather, Albert Ramey, Sr.

Taylor was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Martinsville, VA. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1973. Taylor retired from Southern Finishing after many years of service. He also worked part time for VSAP.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Kirby Farris of the home; two sons, Taylor Farris, Jr. (Sue) of Mt. Sterling, KY, and Joseph Farris of Martinsville, VA; one daughter, Taylasia Wade of Ridgeway, VA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Maria Turner and Anita DeShazo both of Collinsville, VA, Pamela Carter (Fred), Bernita Taylor, and Sharon Barksdale (Windell) all of Martinsville, VA, Reva Hairston of Mayodan, NC, and Serena Brooks (Tyrone) of High Point, NC; four brothers, Richard Hairston of Martinsville, VA, Danny Hairston (Denice) of Cascade, VA, Albert Ramey, Jr. (Tawanda) of Atlanta, GA, and Elon Belcher of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, 301 Fayette St., Martinsville, VA with Brother Stephon Flemming, Eulogist. The burial will be private. A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the residence, 225 Moss St., Martinsville, VA.
