Obituary For Clara Henderson

Jamaica Queens, NY -- Clara Belle “Nee” Hollis Henderson, widow of John Henderson, was born on February 14, 1946 to the late Leonard and Fannie Mae Hollis in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Clara resided in the home with her adopted parents Albert and Helen Foster, Sr.; she departed this life on August 18, 2015. Mrs. Henderson attended Carver High School in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Crown Business School in Jamaica, New York, where she’s resided since 1980. Clara worked for many years at the New York City Department of Health. Clara was a former member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. She later became a member of Community Baptist Church of Christ in Jamaica, NY until her illness. She was loving and generous to everyone she met. Mrs. Henderson was proud to be a sister in the Order Eastern Star; and she was dedicated to the order. Clara touched so many lives with her quick smile and her gift for giving. She is survived by: her sisters, Deanna Taylor of Jamaica, NY and Bessie Mae Foster of Spartanburg, SC; her brothers, Robert (Bobby) Hollis of Bridgeport, CT and Albert (Sarah) B. Foster of Spartanburg, SC. She was like a mother to her niece, Stephanie Taylor of Jamaica, NY and her three nephews Steven Taylor of Jamaica, NY, Jeffrey and Ralph Kevin Taylor of Dayton, OH. She will be truly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. A Celebration of the Life of Clara Belle “Nee” Hollis Henderson will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC. Reverend Ron Henderson will officiate.
