Obituary For James Austin

Spartanburg, SC – James Donald Austin, 72, entered eternal life on Saturday, August 22, 2015. He was the son of the late Lucy and Evans Rankins. Mr. Austin was a devoted member of First A.M. Church, where he served as: a Trustee member, served on the Men’s Methodist Ministry and Board of Directors of First A.M. Church. James was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Austin’s professional career included: an educator at the former Foster Grove High School, an administrator with Model Cities of Spartanburg; an entrepreneur in the area of men’s clothing; an agent with Metropolitan and subsequently with Allstate; and a sales associate with Dave Edwards Toyota. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife, Sara Ann Austin; his daughter, Keisha S. (Ricky) Henderson; his grandsons, Collin Omarr Henderson and Tyler Omarr Henderson all of Conyers, GA; his devoted cousin, Shirley Ann Austin; his step-sister, Robin White; his god-granddaughters, Paige and Blake Koman; his brother in-law, Johnny (Tina) Smith; his devoted caregivers, Robin Watson, Karen Davis and Joan Littlejohn; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. A Celebration of the Life of James Donald Austin will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 12:00 noon at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. The Reverend Jerry Louis Gadsden and The Reverend Arnold E. McJimpsey, Sr. will officiate. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will conduct Final Rites on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Austin, Words seem inadequate. Though we have just met you this school year through Abbi's class, we are so sorry for the loss of your precious husband. Our family is praying for you and yours. We hold hope in knowing we will one day meet your husband in our Father's Heavenly Home. May you feel His love and strength in the coming days, as you celebrate the life of Mr. Austin.
