Demetria Shanta Gant, affectionately known as “DeeDee,” transitioned peacefully on April 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and children. She was born on May 6, 1969, in Stamford, Connecticut and raised by her parents, Judy Owens and Bob Owens. A doting mother, wife, sister, and consummate friend to all who had the pleasure of being in her presence. Demetria was an excellent cook who relished the opportunity to host family and friends, bringing levity and laughter to any situation. Armed with a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from South University, Demetria ascended through the ranks of every corporation for which she worked. An astute listener with an attention to detail, Demetria continued to hone those skills as a Senior Executive Assistant at Bioventus.

Her life, light, and legacy will forever be treasured by all whose lives she touched, especially her husband, Kevin Gant; children, Malik Baynes, Nhandi Baynes, and Imani Cobb; parents; siblings, Kenneth Summers (Germaine) and Kimberlee Summers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and one nephew.

Memorial service will be held 3:30 pm Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Trice Funeral Home Chapel, 127 N. West Street in Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
