Mrs. Davida Colston Gibson

Passed 04/19/2024

Our loving mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Davida Tameka Colston-Gibson, “Gabby Girl,” was born on August 27, 1974, to Mr. David and Mrs. Clementine Parker Colston. Davida peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 19, 2024.

Davida accepted Christ at an early age. Davida advanced to the national spelling bee in grade school, which made her so proud. She graduated from Anson Senior High School. She graduated from Kings College with the class of 1993, where she obtained an Associate of Science in Business Administration. Davida was quite a busybody. She did not stop there; she also pursued her Realtor License and NC and SC Notary Public certifications. She took pride in working in finances. Davida started her career as a bank teller and successfully worked her way up to become a Loan Originator.

Despite facing health challenges, Davida continued to live her life with faith and inspiration. She took pride in her role as the First Lady of Red Hill Community Baptist Church (Society Hill, South Carolina) and Piney Grove Baptist Church (Patrick, South Carolina.) Her resilience in the face of adversity was a testament to her strong faith and determination, inspiring all who knew her.

In 2022, Davida started a foundation for motherless children in Chesterfield, South Carolina. Once a month, she sponsored arts and crafts sessions, and each child went home with a coloring book.

Although she had many titles, her greatest accomplishments were being a wonderful wife and a great mother. Davida was known for her infectious smile, contagious laugh and being a connector for her family. She knew how to bring everyone together. Davida displayed many characteristics, including being funny, adventurous, caring, and, if you knew her, sometimes crazy. All she ever did or said was out of Love.

Davida was preceded in death by her Mother, Clementine Colston; mother-in-law, Milverta Gibson; father-in-law, Benjamin Gibson; uncle, Donald Colston; aunt, Lucille Harris; and two nephews, Traytez Colston and VaShawn Colston.

Left to carry on her legacy are: her Husband, Pastor James Gibson; three sons, the Apple of her eye, Javius Gibson, and Isaiah Rouse both of the home and Kwamaine (Cheri) McQueen of South Carolina. Four grandchildren, Princeton “Isaiah” and Zyonna Rouse, Kemora and Kwamaine Jr. McQueen. Her father, David Colston Sr. of Polkton, NC. Two brothers, David (Talea) Colston Jr. of Fayetteville, NC and TInslo Smith; one sister, Katricia (Christopher) Robinson of Wadesboro, NC; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Gibson and Lori (Ervin) Dixon all of South Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Terrance Gibson and Vernon (Amy) Gibson all of South Carolina. A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Davida had some that held special places in her heart: nephew, Noah Colston; nieces, Yazmena and Autumn; cousin, Rosalyn Harris, and friend, Jona Hamilton.

Davida fought until the very end, blowing her family a whisper of the sweetest kiss as she gained her wings and answered the call to be with Jesus.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, April 27, 2024, 3:30pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the Fairview Church of God Cemetery, Burnsville Community, Polkton, North Carolina.
