Eddie Sue Thompson, 77, passed away Saturday, April 20,2024 surrounded by her loved ones our almighty God in his infinite wisdom and mercy claimed his precious gift, Eddie Sue Thompson, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was the daughter of the late Deacon Jasper Dodd and Vanecca Dodd. Eddie Sue began her Christian journey at Foster Grove Baptist church at an early age. She later became a member of Sigsbee Church of Christ now known as Drayton Mills Church of Christ and has been a devout, faithful Christian throughout. She was highly active in the church, being a Sunday School teacher and Greeter for years. Her personal ministry was to share her loving spirit with everyone that crossed her path.
Her commitment to her faith and community was evident in her every action. She dedicated many hours at the Southeastern Childrens Home for several years. Eddie Sue retired from Phillip Fibers after more than 30 years of service as a textile worker, where she was known for her diligent work ethic and kindness toward her colleagues.
She will be forever remembered by her husband of 56 years, Ernest Thompson, and children, two daughters Evette (Bobby) Wilson, Angela (Ellis)Jones and one son Travis Thompson. She was also a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren: Trellis Wilson, Elijahjuan Thompson, Miyah (Jaylin) Gaston, Jada (Antonio) Wabanimkee, and Journe Jones. Three brothers, Benjamin (Jannie) Dodd, Ronald Dodd, Donald Dodd (Deceased), one Sister Linda (Charles) Bobo and a host of relatives and friends.
Her commitment to her faith and community was evident in her every action. Eddie Sue's legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will live on through her family and all those she touched. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Drayton Mills Church of Christ, Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, SC.
