A Time to Be Born
In the Beautiful city of Miami, Florida in the year of 1968, the late, Amie Jane and Victor Martin Sands welcomed their only baby girl. They named this precious bundle of joy, Avette Laura Sands.
A Time to Learn and Grow
As Avette’s life journey continues she began her education on the exquisite island Nassau, Bahamas attending Saint Thomas More, and move on to receive her High School Diploma from Prince William High School of Nassau, Bahamas. This flourishing and striving young woman desired to be a business owner and a beautician.
A Time for Love and Family
“Lo, Children are a heritage of the LORD: And the fruit of the womb is his reward.” Psalms 127:3
In the year of 1982 Avette met her spouse, Cardinal Marvin Dames. After three loving and flourishing years, on July 23, 1985, Avette and Cardinal welcomed a handsome bouncing baby boy named Marvin Dames. Almost year later, July 19, 1986, joined in holy matrimony, Cardinal honored Avette making her his newly beloved wife. During this magnificent union Avette and Cardinal welcomed four beautiful baby girls, Marvette Dames, the late Avez Dames, And a gorgeous set of identical twin girls Amie and Amber Dames.
A Time for Work
An ambitious woman is what Avette was, opening her own convenience store in Bimini, Bahamas called A & M convenience store. Following her young desires she than became a Beautician at a salon in Bimini. A new journey began for her here in the United States, she became a Customer Service manager here in Saint Augustine, Florida at Walmart Supercenter. Growing a passion for customer service and caring for people, Avette became a Certified Nursing Assistant, shortly after changing her career path to a CNA. Avette was promoted to Nursing Supervisor.
A Time to Serve the Lord
“And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul” Deuteronomy 10:12
Avette began her walk with Jesus attending an Angelicin church, Saint Stevens of Bimini, Bahamas. Moving to Miami, Fl under covenant of the late Pastor David Ellis Avette became a member Freewill Christian Center. Traveling next to Saint Augustine Fl, becoming a member of Restoration Time Deliverance Center Shephard of the house Pastor Frank Watkins. Avette walk with Christ became stronger, dedicating her work in ministry to The Remnant Outreach under the covenant of Doctor Delphine Sands. Four years of dedication Avette became an Administrator of The Remnant Ministry helping in Outreach to provide food, clothes, and necessities to the Community of St. Johns County.
A Time to Rest
Avette Laura Sands, was a LOVING Mother, HARD working woman, UNDERSTANDING sister, SWEET friend and a GREAT example of A fighter. Avette was known for her outspoken passionate precise personality. Avette did not play the radio. On April 15, 2024, Avette fought the good fight long enough, she ran her finest race, Avette finished her course and kept the good faith. God called Avette home, Gates Open wide, Arm stretched……

Avette was proceeded in eternal rest by her parents, Victor and Amy Sands, her daughter, Avez Mariah Dames, aunt, Kernita Sands, uncle, Sterling Sands, cousin, Jeanice Stevens, Lavon Saunders, Pastor David Ellis, friend, Sophie Sherman.
She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Marvin Dames (Connika), St. Augustine; daughters, Marvette Dames, Bimini, Bahamas; Amie Dames, Amber Dames, both of St. Augustine; brothers, Victor Sands (Delphine), St. Augustine; Jason Saunders, Bimini, Bahamas; grandchildren, Shavez Dames, Jamari Willis, Marielle Dames, Jayden Grimes, Jaion Willis, Marvin Dames Jr., Tor' Riyah Houston, Mariyanna Dames, Traevon Chavis, De'zyior Gadson, A'zarion Mims, nieces & nephews, Victor Sands Jr., Levent Sands (Ajanai), Shikara Smith, Brandon Wilson, Rosa Wannamaker, Samuel Lyons, Samantha Lyons, Latrell Bailey, Katrell Smith, great-nieces, Ah'Nylah Sands, Alora Sands, godchildren, Athina Major, Robyn Major, Delnika Brennen, Nichol Sparrow, T'shae Cooper, surrogate mother, Shirley Ritchie, surrogate sister, Anastasia Ritchie, surrogate brothers, Ashely Hinzey, Kayson Ritchie, Shirlon Ritchie, all of Bimini, Bahamas, aunt, Laura Stevens, Jupiter; cousin, Ursula Roker, Bimini, Bahamas, friends, Cher Strachan, Elke Pettiford, both of Bimini, Bahamas, Shemicka Cosby, Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m., Friday, May 3, @ Victory Preparatory School, 110 Masters Dr, St. Augustine. A Celebration of Life will be held at Victory Preparatory School 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2024. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery
