Obituary For Ada Wright

Spartanburg, SC - Ada Mae Maxwell Wright, 85, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 16, 2015. Mrs. Wright was born on July 7, 1930 to the late Martin Maxwell and Ethel Holcombe Maxwell. She was the widow of Eugene “Red” Wright. She was a member at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church for over sixty years, where she served on the Usher Board, Troop Leader for Mt. Moriah Boy Scouts along with Ms. Willie Lou Mack, The Helping Hands Sympathy Club and Trustee Spouses. Mrs. Wright attended Harrison Grove & Walnut Grove Public Schools. She attended the Bar Street School of Nursing (for black students) in Lancaster, SC, 1960. Ada was a member of the Eastern Stars, Jeptha Chapter #21. She was also a Loyal Lady Ruler of the J.E. Dixon Assembly #217. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her children, Shirley, Wayne, and Keith Wright all of Spartanburg, SC; her sister, Theopia Ray of Ft. Washington, MD; her sister-in-law, Gladys Maxwell of Ft. Washington, MD; her six grandchildren, Marek (Sherry) Jones of Greenville, SC, Tamika Watt of Simpsonville, SC, Wilshaun Jones and Brandy (Douglas) Mack both of Spartanburg, SC, Aaron Wright of Knoxville, TN and Martin Wright of Greensboro, NC; her great grandchildren, Ashley, Shawnell, Demarea, Marcel, Noel and Sierra; and her great-great grandchild, Shayne. She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Betty Wright Jones; her sister, Ruth Smith; and her three brothers, Martin Maxwell, Jr., William Maxwell and Thomas Maxwell. A Celebration of the Life of Ada Mae Wright will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 445 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC. Dr. B. D. Snoody will officiate. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2310 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. The family is at the home of her daughter, Shirley Wright, 126 Applewood Ln., Spartanburg, SC.
