Obituary For Etta Mae Parks

Etta Mae Parks, 62, peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Saturday, January 16, 2016 surrounded by her family and friends after an extended illness. Ms. Parks was the daughter of the late Ms. Demetras Parks. Ms. Parks was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She was retired from Butte Knit Mills. To celebrate her life and treasure her memories, Etta leaves behind: her son, John F. Parks of the home; her brother, Sammy L. Parks of Spartanburg, SC; her brother-in-law, Bernard Alston, Sr. of Washington, DC; her loving, caring and devoted sister, Ms. Marilyn Pearson of the home; her three grandchildren, Jonnya’ Dawkins, Sanyja Dawkins and Jakyle Parks all of Spartanburg, SC; her three special nephews, Roy (Shirley) Pearson of Boiling Springs, SC, Bertram Alston of Washington, DC and Eric Rice of the home; her two special nieces, Vena Pearson of the home and LaQuita Pearson of Spartanburg, SC; her two great-great nephews in which she treated and loved as her own grandchildren, Jamarion Anderson and Chandler Pearson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of the Life of Etta Mae Parks will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 445 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC. Reverend Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy will officiate. Entombment will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends at the home, 468 Concord Ave, Spartanburg, SC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Building Fund.
