Obituary For George Cannon

George Marshall 'Cookie' Cannon entered into this world on Thursday, June 9, 1949. He was the fifth of seven children born of a union formed by the late Georgia O'Bryant and Walter Cannon, Sr. He departed this life on Monday, February 22, 2016 around 12:45 a.m., while receiving end-of-life care at Spartanburg Regional Hospice. 'Cook' or 'Cookie', as he was called because as a young child he loved cookies, was born and lived in Spartanburg, SC his entire life, where he worked and attended school. George received his education at Highland Elementary School and Carver High School. At one time he worked for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and Tietex. He retired from work when the Lord called him home. He loved attending family outings and watching old shows. He loved watching Sanford and Son and old westerns. He was a beloved father who leaves to mourn him: his children : Marsha Wallace Boyd (Raymond) and Rosalind Ann Foster, and Darius Antonio Crosby (Katherine). He was pre-deceased by two sons Patrick Alexander Crosby and Anthony George Crosby. He was a beloved brother and brother-in-law who leaves to mourn him: two brothers, Walter Cannon Jr. (Lydia), and Lawrence E. Cannon; and two sisters Mary Cannon-Garner (Woodrow) and Helen Cannon Jackson (William). He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Cannon and Sister Mable Cannon Jeffries (Willie). Also left to cherish his memory are his grand-children: Brianna & Brittany Boyd, Courtney & Brandi Crosby, Demetria MCCollough, Nicole & Rokeya R. Nash, Marcel & Rosalind T. Foster. A beloved uncle, he was also mourned by his nieces: Carla Burgess (Leon) and Ryan Garner and his nephews, Gerald (Charlene) and Brandon Cannon and Eric Jones. He also leaves: an aunt, Shirley Olley; a trusted friend, Robert Miller, and many cherished cousins, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February, 25, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel. Rev. Frankie Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at 8817 Asheville Highway Boiling Springs SC. J. W. Woodward Funeral Home
