Ms. Valerie Lorraine Kearse, known as "Raine" to her family and friends, entered peacefully into her eternal home on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Wake Forest Baptist Health High Point Medical Center. She was born on May 18, 1958 in High Point, NC to the late Charles Edward Kearse and Ila Mae Kearse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Devon Kearse Collier, and her brother, Walter Lee Kearse.
"Raine", as everyone affectionately called her, was selfless and devoted the entirety of her life to serving those around her. She was the epitome of “Living a Life Poured Out”. Her life was not without stumbles and strife. Yet, she was no victim, Valerie Lorraine was ALWAYS the victor! Victorious from the beginning! "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit; Inspect Her Fruit!"
She was an attendee of High Point City Schools, but went on to graduate from Job Corp in McKinney, Texas. For worship, she attended Mirror Me Ministries founded and pastored by her daughter, Apostle Roxanna Watts, as well as IMDR (The Institute of Devine Metaphysical Research), and on March 23, 2024, she rededicated her life to the Lord. She spent the last eight years working in the Hospitality Industry through Aramark at High Point University as a Hospitality Food Service Worker and at the Silver Line Diner, where she mentored and touched many lives of her coworkers as well as the students. Prior to that, she was a biscuit maker at Biscuitville, in High Point, NC.
We could always count on "Raine" to be the life of the party. She loved to dance. That was our "happy place". Her smile brightened every room she walked into. She loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren tremendously. She made sure everyone that mattered to her KNEW it!
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Roxanna Chapman-Watts (Jimmy Watts Jr.) of High Point, NC, Delila Chapman of Winston-Salem, NC, and Lorenzo Chapman Il of High Point, NC out of the twenty-plus year union with Lorenzo Chapman Sr.; grandchildren, Courtland Watts (Diamond), Deontae Davis, LaKirah Leak, Jayden Watts, Jayda Watts, Zelayeh Chapman, Zy'ere Chapman, and Taylor Grace; great-grandchildren, Cadence Watts, Paisley Watts, Carson Watts, and A'Sanna Davis; two brothers, Charles Kearse of Greensboro, NC, and Stanley Kearse of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Sheila Williams of High Point, NC, Thomasine (Clayton)) Williams of High Point, NC, Bonita (William) Winstead of Winston-Salem, NC, and Watina (Vernon) Wilson of High Point, NC; her companion of 24 years, Terry “Bo” Boulware; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that were very near and dear to her heart.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at New Beginnings Full Gospel Ministries. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC VIEWING.
