PACOLET, SC-- On October 5, 2016 Deacon Benjamin Sanders, Sr. entered eternal rest at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Sanders was born on July 25, 1920 in Fairfield County, SC to the late Walter Sanders, Sr. and Alice Sanders. He attended school in the Pacolet. Mr. Sanders retired from Draper Cooperation. After retirement he opened his own barbershop. Deacon Benjamin Sanders, Sr. was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his son, Benjamin (Onie M.) Sanders, Jr.; his brother, Walter Sanders, Jr.; his granddaughter, Gwendolyn Sanders; his great-great grandson, Corey A. Sanders; his nieces, Earline Hurt and Alberta Durham; and a host of other dear relatives and friends. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie, Hattie and Alice and three brothers, Celest, Wylie and Leroy. A Celebration of the Life of Deacon Benjamin Sanders, Sr. will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 190 Beech St., Pacolet, SC. Reverend Sterling Farr will officiate. Interment will be in the Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC.
