Obituary For Coleman Thacker, Jr.

WOODBRIDGE, VA-- Coleman Thacker, Jr. died October 10, 2016 at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Woodbridge, VA, with his wife and children by his side as he slept peacefully into the arms of the Lord. Coleman was born October 25, 1927 in Spartanburg, SC to his parents, the late Coleman and Mary Thacker. He was preceded in death by his siblings, the late Hizzie Thacker of Spartanburg, SC, Francis Thacker of Trenton, NJ, Ernest Thompson of Detroit, MI, Mrs. Georgia Lee Young Smith of Spartanburg, SC and Mrs. Lucille Curry of Pacolet, SC. Coleman was employed in South Carolina District 7, Spartanburg City Schools, as a teacher at Cumming Street Elementary School. He was a teacher of Special Education at the Southside Elementary School, Vice Principal and Special Education at Jesse Boyd Elementary School, and Special Education at Houston Elementary School where he retired June 1990 with 32 years+ and perfect attendance. He was honored as an outstanding educator while employed with District 7, Spartanburg City Schools. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, 9 months and 10 days, Nellie, of the home; his son, William Thacker of Charlotte, NC, and his daughter, Marlene Thacker, of the home.
