Obituary For David Baker

David Dimitri Baker entered eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. He was born on November 13, 1953 at the Army base of Ft. Eustis Va to the late Henry David Baker and Carrie Elizabeth Lark Baker.


Mr. Baker was a member of Walkers Chapel Presbyterian Church in Reidville, SC. He later became a member of Majority Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC.


David was a quiet and humble person that was willing to help when needed. Mr. Baker was a no-nonsense person who believed in getting the job done. He would introduce his humorous and intelligent side to others after getting to know them.


He was educated in the district 5 Schools of Spartanburg County. David graduated from Byrnes High School, Class of 1972. Mr. Baker received an Associate Degree in Machine Technology from Spartanburg Technical College.


Mr. Baker retired from Beverage Air Manufacturing Company.


David enjoyed his free time working in the yard, playing basketball, bowing, as well as attending his grandchildren's sports events (like he did with his children). He loved cooking on the grill on holidays and was avid on keeping up with current events from the news, and shows like 60 minutes, National Geographic, CNN, and many other documentaries. Mr. Baker was helpful with the concerns of all his family members.


Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife. Barbara; his sons, David Anthony (Sharee) of Charleston, SC and Brandon Keith of Spartanburg, SC; his daughter, Catina Freeman ( Robin) of California; his sisters, Carrie Yvonne Thomas (Kaiser) and Deborah Baker; his four brothers, Curtis (Pam), Michael, Rodney and William; his four grandchildren, Micayla, Mehki, Arianna and Labresha; brother-in-law, Michael Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Majority Baptist Church, Spartanburg,SC. Burial will be in the Cemetery St. Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC.
