A gentle soul has departed from our midst, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and tender care. Anita Gale Jones, born to the union of Geroge and Vanessa Ross-Hill in Beckley, WV on June 26, 1947, illuminated the lives of those she touched throughout her journey on this earth.
Her tranquil presence and nurturing spirit will forever linger in the hearts of her loved ones. Her earthly voyage reached its natural conclusion on April 13, 2024, in Youngstown, OH.
A woman of faith, Anita demonstrated it via her leadership position as a deaconess at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She was a student and scholar of the Word of God, teaching Sunday School and engaged in supporting various special projects of the church.
Anita, in her role as a Home Health Aide at the Mahoning County Department of Jobs & Family Services, selflessly dedicated herself to providing support and comfort to those in need, embodying compassion in its purest form. A personal aside, she was respected and highly regarded as a talented seamstress. She was also an avid Cleveland Brown’s cheerleader and fan.
Family relationships were very important to Anita. It was reflected as a devoted mother to Allen Jones, Latisha Howard, and Derrick Jones, embracing every moment with grace and tenderness. She adored her granddaughters, Niesha and Hasia, showering them with wisdom and affection that will endure for generations to come. She will be cherished with love and fond memories by her siblings Karen Hunt and William Ross.
Assuming her place among the ancestral shores, she was reunited with her parents, her husband Jimmy Jones and daughter Aisha Jones who welcomed her into eternity.
Though she may have bid us farewell, Anita's legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will forever linger in our hearts, guiding us as a beacon of compassion in a world that often yearns for a gentle touch.
As we gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well-lived, a public viewing and family visitation will be held, Monday April 29, 2024, at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Avene, at 10:00am.
The Celebration of Her Life Services will be held at 11:00am with Rev. J. Dwayne Heard serving as the celebrant. These gathering will be an opportunity for all who cherished Anita to pay their respects, share stories, and remember the sweetness of her presence.
May the essence of Anita’s spirit soar among the heavens, forever watching over us with a smile that echoes through eternity.
