Lula Mae Elias, 88, passed Friday, April 26, 2024 in Ft. Mitchell, AL.

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3. 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church, Holy Trinity, AL with Rev. Tyrone Thomas, pastor, officiating and Rev. H.C. McGruder, eulogist. Burial will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery on Monday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m. Public visitation is Thursday, May 2, from 2:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Lula Mae Elias, daughter of the late Roosevelt Kilo, the late Mary J. Cliatt Kilo, and Step Mother the late Mary English Kilo was born on May 10, 1935 in Cottonton, Alabama.

Lula Mae Elias accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and united with the Mount Moriah AME Church in Cottonton, Alabama and later united with the New Hope Baptist Church after marrying the love of her life, Johnnie B. Elias Sr. She was a dedicated member at New Hope Baptist Church where she was a choir member, a Deaconess, a member of the Pastor Aide Committee, and made the BEST Macaroni and Cheese for church events. Her favorite songs were It’s Another New Year, Let It Be Real, and There’s a Storm Out on the Ocean.

Our mother was a very resourceful woman. Over the years she worked various jobs to help support her family. She was a house wife, a maid, a thrift shop attendant, and she work many years in Fort Benning, Georgia as a food service supervisor, retiring in 2000.

Lula Mae Elias was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Mr. Johnnie B. Elias Sr, on July 4, 1954 in Cottonton, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her sister Rosie Lee Kilo, two step brothers Authur Cliatt, and Tommy Kilo, and two grandchildren Tavares Thomas, and Shamika K. Butts.

She leaves to cherish with love, a sincere spirit of gratitude and loving memories of her long life, five sons, Bobby L. Elias (Linda), Wilfred Elias, and Johnny B. Elias Jr. of Ft. Mitchell, AL, Garry R. Elias (Linda), and Mark L. Elias (Stephanie) of Phenix City, AL; two daughters, Kathleen Elias Johnson (Cassian) of Boca Raton, FL, and Janet Elias McIntosh (Welton Thomas) of Colorado Springs, CO; one step daughter Dorotha Abercrombie (James) of Columbus GA, one stepson, Ron Lover (Gail) of Houston, TX; three brothers, Jesse Kilo (Annie) and William Kilo both of Chicago, IL and Willie Kilo (Chris) of Seattle, WA; thirteen grandchildren, Andrea, Fredrick, Marquita, Justin, Jared, Johnna, Jenna, Quinton, Darrius, Zachary, Tyson, Jasmine and Jade; ten great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
