Manasas, VA - John Henry Floyd peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Novant Medical Center in Manassas, VA. Mr. Floyd was the son of the late Mr. Howard Floyd and Agnes Smith Floyd (Ernest Geter, Sr.) Geter. He was reared in the home of his beloved great-uncle and aunt, William (Effie) Ferguson. He graduated in 1947 from The Spartanburg County Training School in Fairforest. Mr. Floyd was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Bealeton, VA. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his siblings, William B. (Julia) Geter of Inman, SC, Ernest (Dorothy) Geter, Jr., Creola (Marvin)Shells, Clementine Geter Gaffney and Michael Geter all of Spartanburg, SC and Leroy Geter of Los Angeles, CA; his Faith Baptist Church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Services for John Henry Floyd will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Interment will be in the First Baptist Church of Fairforest, 200 Charity Dr., Spartanburg, SC.
