Obituary For Lois Bailey Ishmael

Spartanburg, SC - Lois Bailey Ishmael entered eternal rest on January 27, 2017. Mrs. Ishmael was the daughter of the Late Dera Mahalia Smith-Bailey and Willie George Bailey, Sr. She was the wife of Charles Ishmael. Lois attended Community College in Philadelphia where she attained an Associate Degree in Sociology. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Lasalle University in Philadelphia, PA and a Master Degree from Cheyney University in Cheyney, PA. Mrs. Ishamel retired as Program Director of the SCOH Program overseeing social workers at the Juvenile Justice Center in PA. Lois was affectionately called “Muh” and “Yaya.” She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, employee and neighbor - loved by many. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her husband, Charles Ishmael; “her baby,” Angela Renee Bailey of the home; her daughter, Barbara Faye Hardy; her step-daughter, Donna Ishmael; her sister, Eula Faye Mallary (William) of Mt. Vernon, NY; her brothers, Willie George Bailey, Jr. , of Spartanburg, SC and Larry Hardy of Pacolet, SC; her grandson, Khristopher A. Holmes; her great-granddaughters, Khristyn J. Holmes of Spartanburg, SC and Jamaya L. Bailey in Philadelphia, PA; her nieces, Pamela Hathcock of Batesburg-Leesville, SC and Keva Geter of Spartanburg, SC; her nephews, Rev. James Smith (Thelma) of Boiling Springs, SC, Reginald Mallary of Mt. Vernon, NY, Robin Bailey, Jr. (Tina), of Atlanta, GA, Rashaun Bailey in Inman, SC and Randy L. Bailey (Tanya) of Huntsville, AL; her sister-in-law, Stephanie Bailey; her brothers-in-law; her sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Adrienne Bailey; her brother, Robin David Bailey, Sr.; and her step-son, Craig Ishmael. A Celebration of the Life of Lois Bailey Ishmael will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Interment will be held in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC.

Mrs. Ishmael helped me several times when I was caretaker for my husband who later died.. She did a wonderful job of caring for him and making my burden lighter. Thank you, Lois, for helping me in my time of need.
