Ms. Omega Penn Davis was born on April 22, 1955 in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA, to the parentage of the late Mr. Manager Penn, Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Lucile Brantley Penn.
Omega was educated in the Lamar County School System, graduating with the 1973 Class of Lamar County High School. While in school, she served as a majorette in the marching band and an outstanding player of the varsity basketball team.
Omega joined the church at an early age and was always an active and faithful member. She shared her gifts of and love of music to many choirs, her love of teaching to youth ministries and early education, and her dedication to service as secretary of Canaan Baptist Church. During her long illness, The Most High God blessed her with the message of the truth of His word, and she became a faithful follower of the teachings of Israel United in Christ, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Nathanyel Israel. In 1977, Omega and Charles Wesley Davis, Jr. were joined together in marriage; and from this union, they were blessed with two children, Charmeca N. Davis
Jenkins and Ortega S. Davis.
She dedicated her life to being a teacher in early education. She shared her gifts of the love of music. She was very creative in teaching the youth in art, music and Bible classes in various Christian Academies. She also coached the girl’s junior varsity basketball team. She was a movie fanatic who loved action, fantasy and anything with horses in it. In her downtime, she would read her
bible and write bible study lessons. Be it making jewelry, sewing or arranging family or church performances, she was always being creative.
On Sunday, April 21, 2024, Omega transitioned peacefully at home. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, five brothers and a great-granddaughter, Kamaria D’taja.
Omega leaves to cherish her memory a devoted, patient, and loving daughter, Charmeca N. Jenkins of Jonesboro, GA, and her children and grandchildren, Jamah J. Jenkins (Fatima) of Las Vegas, NV, Chaja Jenkins (Adrian “Solomon” and Jada) and Destinee Jenkins of Jonesboro, GA, and Megann Jenkins (Harmony) of Las Vegas, NV;
her handsome son, Ortega ``Busta'' Davis and his children, Omari Davis and Dontae Green of Chicago, IL; Saion Reid of Riverdale, GA; Taeviyon Davis of Hinesville, GA, Jamya Crumbley and Ortega Davis Jr. of Buena Vista, GA; Santa ‘Jah Davis of Beloit, WI; and
Sparrow Ellerby and Hannah ``Moonlight” Ellerby of Locust Grove, GA; three brothers, Preston Penn, D. A. Penn and Michael Penn of Barnesville, GA; three sisters, Lillie Rose Penn of Conway, AR; Enterjoy Thurman of Barnesville, GA, and Mary Carter (Reginald) of Fayetteville, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
