Mr. Claude Edward Bynum, Jr., was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Bynum was born to Claude E. Bynum, Sr., and Julia Bryant-Bynum on September 29, 1929. He would be the second of three siblings, Patricia Bynum Middlebrook (preceded in death) and Mabel Elizabeth Bynum Burton of Memphis, Tennessee.
Mr. Bynum professed his life to Christ and attended Centenary United Methodist Church.
Mr. Bynum attended Carnes Elementary and Porter Jr. High. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1947 and attended LeMoyne College.
He was called to draft in 1953, where he served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bynum worked for the United States Postal Service for 45 years.
Mr. Bynum was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Geraldine Ruth Gipson Bynum. To this union, four siblings were born, Claude Oliver Bynum (Carla), Stephani Bynum Brown (Cecil), Gerald Vincent Bynum (Gail), and Mark Edward Bynum (deceased).
Mr. Bynum was previously married to Bobbie Jean Broach (deceased); to this union, Charlotte Denise Bynum was born.
Mr. Bynum is survived by his children and step-children, Charlotte, Stephani, Carlton, Claude, Monica, Gerald, Michelle and Paula; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his sister, Mabel Bynum Burton of Memphis, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 6, 2024 from 10:00am-11:55am with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12:00 noon both will be held at RS Lewis & Sons 2944 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38111.
Internment will be in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125
