Obituary For Reverend Freeman Wray

Spartanburg, SC – Reverend Freeman Wray was born in Spartanburg County on July 19, 1955 to the late Mr. Carl Lee Wray, Sr. and Mrs. Eloise Foster Wray. He entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Reverend Wray was a pastor for many years; he founded Fresh Start Word Ministry. Later in life, he attended multiple churches, spreading the Word of God. Having completed high school “Wray”, as he liked to be called, worked at Flowers Bakery where he was employed for over 25 years. He obtained his commercial drivers license in 2000. “Wray” drove commercially for many years. He worked in construction for a while until he moved on to work at Columbia Farms where he was employed until he became ill. Mr. Wray leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to his loving wife, Bernadine Wray; his daughters, Alfreda Reid, Belinda (Daniel) Wray Foster, Makeida Wray, Shannah (Booker) Wray Hoey and Freemina Wray all of Spartanburg, SC; his son, Keilah Wray of Spartanburg, SC; his brothers, James Moore of Spartanburg, SC, Carl (Addie) Lee Wray of Spartanburg, SC, Donald (Eloise) Wray of Spartanburg, SC, Joseph Wray of Spartanburg, SC, Charles (Aldora) Wray of Whitney, SC and Robert (Karen) Anderson of Roebuck, SC; his sister, Dovie Anderson of Spartanburg, SC; twenty grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who will truly miss “Wray”. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Wray. A Celebration of the Life of Reverend Freeman Wray will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard St., Spartanburg, SC. Minister C.D. Fowler will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home of Shannah and Booker Hoey at 706 Ridgedale Dr. Spartanburg, SC.
