On Thursday evening, May 9, 2024, Minister Fred Lowery knew it was well with his soul and embraced his transition quickly as the Angel of Death visited him and summoned him to rest and await the dawn of eternal bliss.
Frederick Lowery, the son of the late Mr. Richard Baker and Mrs. Catherine Lowery Gaddy, was born on July 22, 1968, in Chesterfield, South Carolina.
Minister Lowery grew up in Gatewood Station AME Zion Church with his late grandmother, Reverend Orlean F. Allen. He later joined Sneedsboro AME Zion Church, where he served in many capacities throughout his tenure. He later joined House of Faith Outreach Ministries and remained a faithful Sunday School and Bible Study Teacher and Minister under the leadership of his Pastor, Pastor Cindy Wiggins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, Mrs. Harriet Lowery and Mr. J.T. McCoy, and Mr. Robert and Louise Baker Chambers. His uncles, Mr. Robert Lowery, Mr. Sylvester Lowery, Mr. David Lowery, Mr. Byron Baker, and Mr. Thomas Baker.
He confessed Christ and loved God with all his heart. He was a saved Man of God and lived holy unto God. He accepted God’s call to preach on November 1, 2015 and remained faithful to the gospel until death.
Frederick attended Anson Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1988.
On August 28, 1999, he married his soul mate and the love of his life, Mrs. Karen Smith Lowery, and to this union, two children were born.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing with his son, working in his garden, playing with his dog, Blue, praising and worshipping God, and most of all studying God’s word.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his faithful and devoted wife of 25 years, Mrs. Karen Smith Lowery of the home. His three children, Ms. Whitney Lowery (Quentin Willoughby), Frederick Ahmad Lowery of the home, and Ebony Gibson of Chesterfield, South Carolina. His precious grandchildren, Kamari Willoughby and Zyla Monae Lowery, and his goddaughter, Jazahya Griffin. His only sister, Shirley Lowery of Wadesboro, NC. His nieces, Ms. Sharon Tillman of Indian Trail, NC, Saduchess Covington and Mya Greene of Wadesboro, NC. His nephews, Mr. Gerald Lowery of Wadesboro, NC and Mr. Joseph Martin of Washington, DC. Four great nieces and three great nephews. His loving father and mother-in-law, Mr. George W. and Mrs. Donnie Denise Smith. His loving sisters-in-law, Dr. Jennifer Smith of Peachland, NC, and Camilla Smith of Wadesboro, NC.
A special aunt, who reared him in her home, Brenda (Jerry) Sturdivant of Morven, NC, Ann Smith of Wadesboro, NC, Pauline (Alex) Pressley, High Point, NC, Karen (Danny) Bleu of Winston Salem, NC, Farnice (Ronnie) Lindsey, of Morven, NC, Minnie (Douglas) Ingram of Norwood, NC, Louvenia (Pat) Davis, of Norwood, NC, Faye Baker, Norwood, NC, Marilyn (Purnell) Robinson of High Point, NC; four uncles, Mr. Joe (Sarah) Baker of High Point, NC, Mr. James Thomas McCoy of Charlotte, NC, and Mr. Walter McCoy of Morven, NC, and Reverend David (Barbara) Gaddy, and a host of cousins, friends and his loving House of Faith Church Family.
The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, May 18, 2024, 2:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of Westview Memorial Park, Highway 74, Polkton, North Carolina.
The Lowery Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1:30-2:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
