Mr. William Barry Wright, 72, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Cray Chapel Christian Methodist Church, 1918 Oak Haven Drive Albany, Georgia 31721.
Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

A Season of life began for William on October 2, 1951 in Albany, Dougherty County, GA. When the seeds were planted by the late James and Lillie Harris Wright.
As he sprouted and grew, he began his began his Christian walk at a very young age at Bethel African Methodist Church, Albany, GA. He remained a faithful member until his demise. He loved his church and his church family and loved teaching Sunday School.
William received his education in Dougherty County School System Albany, GA. graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School Class of 1969. He received his Bachelor & degree and Master’s degree from Albany State University, in Business Administration and Criminal Justice. William worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company until its closing. He also taught at Albany State University, Albany, GA and Atlanta Metropolitan College, Atlanta, GA.
William was a man who devoted himself to the NAACP to improve race relations for all of us, especially for “we the people” of Dougherty County, Albany, GA.
He met and married Mary Pearman Wright and they were blessed with three children, Charisma, Lesley, and Lydia. William loved to read, and even though he was not a singer, he loved listening to music.
The Vine of life was plucked on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Bonnie Favors, Bobby Thomas, Jackie Wright, Johnny Wright, and Daughter-in-law, Latosha Thomas Wright.
Cherishing his legacy of his earthly season are his wife, Mary Wright; his children, Charisma (Fredrick) Jackson, Lesley Wright (AKA Lex), Dr. Lydia (Brian) Woodward; God daughter, Cardelia McWilson; two brothers, Jewon (Sherry) Wright, and Austin Wright, one sister, Alfreda Cunningham; two sisters in-law, Alice Wright and Mamie Thomas; six grandchildren, ReNaldo, Frederque, Christian, TaNesha, Chikyra,
Cameron, and Christopher; two Great-grandchildren, Miles and Keizen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
