With saddened hearts our loved one, James “Big Daddy” Wilson, 70, peacefully joined his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. James was born on August 8, 1953, in Washington, DC to his late parents, James Wilson and Romaine Coppedge. He was proceeded in death by brother William R. Wilson.
James was employed by Prince George’s County Public Schools as a maintenance engineer. His passion was working on cars. In addition, he had experience in roofing, Dry wall, and electrical.
James is survived by his wife, Shirley Wilson; sister Deborah Evans, brother Wayne Green, and brother Edward Coppedge; he will live on through his children and grandchildren in death, daughter Lakisha D. Wilson (grandsons, DeAndre Poindexter-Wilson (Tydrea Wilson), great-grandsons, Alexander C. Reynolds (deceased), Devan Wilson and great-granddaughter, Veda Wilson, grandson, Datron Holmes and granddaughter, Joann Reid; son, Donnell Wilson (Lauren Wilson), grandson Dante Wilson, daughter, Torie Paguyo (Don Paguyo), granddaughter, Leilani Wilson-Paguyo; Daughter, Tamara Wilson, granddaughter, Briana Smith and grandson, Christian Perez-Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
