Sister Charley Mae Johnson

Sister Charley M. Johnson was born to the late Charlie Horton and Vera Lee Johnson on July 13th, 1943, in Clewiston Florida. She departed this earthly life on May 16, 2024.

She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. O. D. Williams. For the last 7 years, she was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gary McNealy. She was an active member of the Minister’s Wife Congress of the Kissimmee Valley Association, leading Minister of Music of the FMBC Choir and Harlem Community Choir until her health prevented her from participating.

Charley Mae received her elementary and secondary education from Hendry County Schools, Clewiston, Florida. She received her post-secondary education at Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida, in 1989 where she received her Bachelors Degree in Business Education.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother and son, Alandra Horton. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Henderson Johnson, Sister: Annie Parker; her children: Reginald Brandon, Ronald (Trevita) Horton, Deborah Ross, Kenneth Ross, and Valerie (Robert) Scott. Her grandchildren: Jakira Scott, Robert (Karlee) Scott Jr., Gabrielle Horton, Ronald Horton Jr., and Kari Scott. Great grandson: Kallan Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews and close special friends who loved her dearly.
