Obituary For Paul Bowman

Paul Bowman, 65, entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2017. Mr. Bowman was the son of the late Ruth Bowman and Paul Gray. He was the husband of Patricia Fowler Bowman. Paul was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Bowman graduated from Spartanburg High School, Class of 1970. He received his Bachelor’s degree from USC Upstate. Paul also graduated from the Incident Command Program. He retired from The Spartanburg Public Safety Fire Department as Assistant Chief. Mr. Bowman was the first African-American to serve as Captain and Assistant Fire Commander for The Spartanburg Public Safety Fire Department. He was a member of the S.C. Fireman Association, S.C. State Fire Fighters Association and International Fire Chiefs Association. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife, Patricia; his son, Cody A. Fowler of the home; his daughter, Cassandra L. Fowler of the home; his granddaughter, Jah’zel Williams; his mother-in-law, Shirley Fowler of the home; his siblings, Wayne Bowman of Spartanburg, SC, Kevin (Sandra) Gray of Columbia, SC, Rev. Glenn (Rachelle) Gray and Rev. Darryl (Olive) Gray both of Montreal, Canada, Paulette Bowman of Spartanburg, SC, Renee (James) Miller of Wellford, SC, Valerie Gray of Spartanburg, SC, Shawna Cohen of Spartanburg, SC and Doris (Elliot) Johnson of Columbia; his aunt, Margaret Hawkins; his uncle, Eddie Ray Bowman; his goddaughters, Devionna Fowler and Trista Mockabee; his brothers-in-law, Thomas (Debbie) Fowler and Norwood A. (Beatrice) Fowler both of Spartanburg, SC; and his sisters-in-law, Vickie (Sammie) Campbell and Sandra (Westley) Jeter both of Spartanburg, SC. A Celebration of the Life of Paul Bowman will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 502 S. Daniel Morgan Ave., Spartanburg, SC. Rev. Dr. M. Keith McDaniel, Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC. J. W. Woodward Funeral Home
