Gloria Bowden, 51, passed on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm EST on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Pine Hill Baptist Church with Rev. J. C. Fryer, pastor; pastor Annie Lewis, officiating and eulogizing. Interment to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Public viewing is Monday, May 27, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. EST.

Gloria Renee Bowden was born on January 28, 1973, in Columbus, Georgia to Catherine Martin Bowden and the late Herman Bowden.

She was educated in both the Columbus and Phenix City School Systems and she graduated from Central High Schoolin 1991. She was baptized at an early age at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. F.F. Andrews. Later in life, she united with We Can Ministries of Phenix City, AL.

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, God embraced Gloria in His arms and enfolded her in His love as she peacefully departed this life.

Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Justin “JD” Bowden and her father, Herman Bowden.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories; her mother, Catherine “Lil Roe” Bowden of Phenix City, AL; one grandson, her son shine, Justin Devon Bowden, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; one loving sister, Hermann Knight of Columbus, Georgia; two nephews, MacKavin and MacKaleb Knight of Phenix City, Alabama; one niece, Akira Rutledge (Eric) of Phenix City, Alabama; one great nephew, EJ Johnson of Phenix City, Alabama; nine uncles, Gerald Bowden, of Jonesboro GA, Cortez Taylor of Columbus, GA, Johnny (Shirley) Martin, Elijah Martin, Sammy Sellers, all of Phenix City, AL, Joseph Wise of Vista, CA, Willie Wise of Birmingham. AL, Jeffery Sellers and Derrick Sellers all of Chicago, IL; 12 aunts, Victoria Taylor of Morrow, GA, Hilda Harris, Dorothy Martin, Betty Jo Hudson, Diane Wise, Daisy Wise all of Columbus, GA, Dorothy (Charles) Toombs, Rosetta Wise, Linda (Wallace) Walton all of Phenix City, AL, Jessie (Lowell) Yarborough of Columbia, SC, Cynthia (Karen) Nash, Yolanda Mason all of Chicago, IL, and a host of other family members (especially cousins) and friends.
