My condolences to the family in the loss of your beloved family member. It is very difficult when a loved one fall asleep in death. But the Bible provides comfort to help you cope with your loss. Psalm 34:18 says; Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit. He also expresses a wonderful hope for the future to reunite you and your loved one. At Hosea 13:14 it says: From the power of the grave I (God) will redeem them; From death I will recover them. This wonderful promise from our loving heavenly father can encourage and strengthen you as you look forward to seeing your loved one again. James, We deeply feel for what you and the family are currently going through. At times, there isn't much that can soothe the pain this grief brings, but you may find some comfort in the words of Psalms 9:9 which reads: 'Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress.' Yes, our Loving God can help if we allow him to (1John 5:14). He also has made the SURE promise of a resurrection right here on earth, when it is restored to a Paradise (Acts 24:15; Psalms 37:9-11,29). No, not just a dream, but for a certainty he will do it, for Isaiah 55:11 shows us that everything he says, he accomplishes without fail.
