HARRISON, Mr. Timothy Z., a resident of Peachtree City, GA, passed May 22, 2024, at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tuskegee Institute, AL, Father Mateusz Rudzik, officiating, McKenzie's Funeral Home Staff, directing. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on May 31, 2024 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Timothy “Tim” Zachary Harrison was born on February 7, 1966, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, as the beloved third child of Alonzo K. and Constance Harrison, Jr. and was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Tuskegee, Alabama. Tim transitioned on May 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.

Tim attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. He was a member of the choir, wrestling team, golf team, a standout basketball player, and graduated in 1984 as a proud member of the National Honor Society.

Tim, affectionately known as “Zeek,” received a full academic scholarship to Prairie View A&M University and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Zeek was admitted to the inaugural Benjamin Banneker's Honors College for Engineering students where he interned with Los Alamos National Labs and Johnson Space Center. Tim was also a founding member of Epsilon Gamma Iota Inc. Social and Service Organization, which aims to promote social and academic excellence among engineering, engineering technology, computer science, and architecture majors. He played a crucial role in the organization's foundational years, handling strategic documentation that led to its formal recognition on November 19, 1985. The organization has grown to encompass over 400 members across six undergraduate chapters, two graduate chapters, and a national advisory board.

In addition to his contributions to Epsilon Gamma Iota, Tim was a dedicated Freemason. He was raised in Freemasonry in November 1987 at Magnolia Lodge Number Three in Houston, Texas, under the jurisdiction of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas, Free and Accepted Masons. Achieving the esteemed rank of 32nd° Mason in 1988.

As a true sportsman, Tim's love for the outdoors, extended to fishing, exploring nature, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends on the lake taking in all the beauty that nature had to offer. He also developed a passion for golf which piqued his interest while working at Westlake Country Club in Augusta during his high school years and persisted throughout his life. He enjoyed playing and watching golf with his dad and it was his most requested show to watch on tv even while in the hospital along with CNN.

Tim had a long career in logistics at the FedEx Corporation, earning numerous accolades. His entrepreneurial spirit shined through his work as a contractor rehabbing homes and his ownership of Zero’s Sports Bar and Grille in Tuskegee.

In the summer of 1982, Tim met the love of his life, Hope Howard, at a swimming pool in Tuskegee. Their love story led to a marriage in January 1993; from their union were born two wonderful children, Halle Hellaine Harrison and Timothy Zachary Harrison, II who became the light of their lives. They raised their children in Peachtree City, GA where he was cherished for his incredible culinary skills, which brought the family together around the dinner table, and oral history that bonded the generations. He truly put his heart and soul in every meal he cooked and was affectionately known as the in-house chef of the Harrison household.

Tim leaves behind his loving wife, Hope Hellaine Howard Harrison, his daughter, Dr. Halle Hellaine Westbury (Eric), and his son, Timothy Zachary Harrison, II. He is also survived by his parents, Alonzo K. and Constance Harrison, and his siblings Alonzo “Pete” Harrison, III, Jeanie Michelle Harrison Newsome (Charles), and Geraldine Vedel Harrison Foote (Anthony). Tim's memory is cherished by his uncle’s Roland Harrison (Sonya) and Ernest Harrison (Janette), and his cousins Andrea Harrison Bryant, Segrist Sarance Harrison, Jr. (Marcella), Roland Harrison, Jr. (Rosalee), Dr. Adrienne Harrison Berry, Richard Harrison, Sigrid Harrison, and Ernest Harrison, Jr. He was preceded in death by his uncle Segrist Harrison (Gloria). Tim is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Janee Newsome, Kirkland Harrison, Kenneth Harrison, Trennise Harrison, Charles Newsome, Breanna Harrison, Cierra Newsome, and Dae Harrison-Foote, along with a host of great-nieces, nephews, and extended family.
