Passed 05/24/2024

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born and a time to die; A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance; A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace…” Ecclesiastes 3:1,2,4,8 A

Time to Be Born… Wilson Moore, the oldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Marshall and Rosie Lee Pace Moore, was born on August 24, 1936, in Tuskegee, Alabama.

A Time to Learn… He was educated in the Tuskegee public school system and graduated from Tuskegee Institute. He loved recreational fishing, was an avid sports fan, and played basketball in high school. Wilson was a loyal Alabama and NC State sports enthusiast and supported both of them unapologetically.

A Time to Love… Wilson was married to Glennie Mae Moore and they spent more than 50 happy years together. He was a loving, generous person with a quiet sense of humor. He was a devoted father to William (Billy) and Sharon, stepfather to William, and grandfather to Zachary, all of whom he adored.

A Time to Plant and Serve… Wilson joined the US Navy in 1955 and served for several years on the USS Bon Homme Richard. He traveled widely, including to Taiwan and China. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Long Island, New York, where he worked with the Veterans Administration for a number of years. While living in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was employed with Pharmacap, Bristol Myers, and Sullcraft. Upon retiring, he and Glennie moved to Apex, North Carolina. At an early age, Wilson recognized the need for a Savior so he joined Butlers Chapel Methodist Church in Tuskegee, Alabama. He remained faithful throughout his life.

A Time to Weep… Many loved ones preceded him in death including his parents, Marshall and Rosa Lee and his sister, Rebecca Moore Wylie.

A Time to Rest… On Friday morning, May 24, 2024, God in His infinite wisdom called His servant Wilson to eternal rest. While we may not understand the timing, we know that God is Sovereign and that he is resting in His arms.

A Time to Remember… Wilson leaves his loving and devoted wife, Glennie, to cherish his memory. His legacy of love and strong belief in family continues with his children: his son, William (Billy) Marshall Moore of Cochecton, NY, daughter, Sharon Moore of Charlotte, NC, and stepson, William Wilkerson of Durham, NC. He also leaves behind a grandson, Zachary Young of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Marshall Moore (Rochelle) of Garner, NC, and James Moore of Tuskegee, AL; sister, Lousie M. Knox (Carron) of Tuskegee, AL; four brothers-inlaw, James Moore (Geraldine), Willie Moore, Larry Moore (Linda), and Michael Moore; four sisters-in-law, Dora Odell M. Harrington, Imogene M. Jones (Nord Ellis), Brenda M. Lewis (Dr. H. Donell), and Beverly M. Armwood (Kevin), all of Apex, NC and surrounding cities; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly
