I always enjoyed working with Ty. He had a great sense of humor and concern for the students. One of the members of my SS class funeral was the same day as Ty's so I didn't make it to the service. I know it was lovely. Thinking of you.

Dear Gilmore family, our deepest condolences to you. If it were not for Tyrone Gilmore our Boys & Girls Clubs may have never been the success they are today. Dr. Gilmore invited our organization to open its first clubs in District 7 schools back in 1989 and 1990. Thanks to his decision we have operated clubs in over 20 schools in the upstate over the last 30 years. Our organization became we believe The first Boys & Girls Club founded to operate solely in school settings. Today our clubs are recognized as some of the best in the country. That all started with Dr. Gilmore welcoming us to District 7 schools. We are eternally grateful. Greg Tolbert, president Boys & Girls Clubs of the Upstate

I was a young student at Wofford College when brother Ty announced the intent to create an Omega chapter. It would be a charter line:the first chapter:Tau Delta. I was so proud. I had known Ty and Jakie all my life and was proud to join an organization that provided leaders like Ty. Bless your soul frat. You were a very good man and frat brother.
