Teresa Lynn Gainey peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven on Monday, May 27, 2024, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. She was a beloved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to all. Teresa was born March 19, 1963 to the late Claude Jr. and Myrtle Burns in Stanly County, NC.
At an early age, she gave her life to Christ. She served as a choir member and on the kitchen committee at her church. Teresa graduated from Bowman High School. She was part of the Class of 1981. She was employed at Wiscasset Mill in Albemarle, NC, Cedar Hill Manufacturing in Ansonville, NC and she was also a Home Healthcare Provider.
Teresa was United in Holy Matrimony to Ronalt (Ronnie) Gainey on June 29, 1986, her one and only true love.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Claude Burns Jr., her mother, Myrtle S. Burns, and her brother, Claude Darnell Burns III. Teresa is survived by her brothers: Tommy Joe Burns of Ansonville, NC, Johnny Burns (Darlene) of Burnsville, NC, Terral Burns (Kendra) of Morven, NC, Pondra Burns (Angel) of Burnsville, NC, and Dwight Burns Sr. (Takela) of Rock Hill, SC. She has a living aunt and uncle, Minnie Lee Tillman of Washington, DC, and Albert D. Smith (Patty) of San Diego, California. Teresa is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Hope Jackson and Dawn Baker; her brother-in-law, Terryl Harris, Keith Rosebud (a special friend and brother); and Marie Rivers (a special friend and sister). She was grateful for the love and support of her elder family members: Margaret Sheppard, Charles “Buck” Jones (Elizabeth) and John Henry Burns. She leaves behind many special nieces and nephews that were her heart. Teresa loved her cousins very dearly. They traveled often from Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, and San Diego to see about their one-of-a-kind cousin and niece, Teresa.
Teresa also leaves behind her community family and relatives who cared for her during her battle with cancer: Peggy and Bobby Simon, Sharon Lilly, Ryan Horne, Barbara Horne, Helen Mercer, Rita Wall, Kimberly Thomas, Eleanor Little, Jennifer Kendall, Joyce Little, Kishia Dunlap, Juanita Townsend, and Evangelist Rebecca Blue. She fondly spoke of her sweet Carissa Little and Terrance Horne, and Ruby Huntley with whom she loved.
The Homegoing Services will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024, 3:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be at the New Hope Christian Faith Church Cemetery, Ansonville, North Carolina.
The Family will greet family and friends and the viewing will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:30-3:00pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.
