Obituary For John Dawkins, Sr.

John B. Dawkins, Sr. entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2018 at 5:12 p.m. at his home. Mr. Dawkins was the son of the late Blake and Mozell Dawkins. John attended Granard High School. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard. Mr. Dawkins was an over-the-road truck driver. John was a member of Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board and All-Male Gospel Choir. Mr. Dawkins was a former member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Cowpens where he served as a Deacon. Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: his wife, Gertrude Glenn Dawkins; his three sons, John B. Dawkins, Jr. (Marian), Walter Smith (Darlene) and Lonnie Smith (Ursula); his mother-in-law, Eunice Glenn; his grandchildren; his sister, Mae Frances Dawkins of Gaffney, SC; his brothers, Bobby Dawkins of OH and Stanley Dawkins (Shirley) of Gaffney, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. A Celebration of the Life of John B. Dawkins, Sr. will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church,1552 Switzer Green Pond Rd., Woodruff, SC. Pastor Vincent M. Perry will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. J. W. Woodward Funeral Home
