Elizabeth Wright-Ward

Elizabeth Wright-Ward of Youngstown, OH, transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on Sunday June 2, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. Elizabeth was born December 3, 1933, in Campbell, Ohio, the daughter of Newton and Lula Green. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother to all her children.

Elizabeth was affectionately called “Mama Liz” by everyone. She was an excellent mother and loved her family. She was a very special person to many people. Mama Liz was a homemaker and childcare provider for many years. Elizabeth loved people and everyone genuinely loved her in return.

She was a member of Ebenezer Church of God In Christ, and in her younger years, Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed playing bingo, and she loved cooking dinner for her family. She was known for her delicious Macaroni and Cheese and carried the title “The Macaroni and Cheese Queen”.

Elizabeth Wright-Ward leaves to cherish her memory and rejoice in her peace, two daughters, Crystal Carter and Nicole Ward, both of Youngstown; three sons, Ronald and Reggie Denson, and Sterling Green, all of Youngstown; One sister Shirley Williams, of Columbus, Ohio and a brother, Robert Greene of Youngstown. She leaves 27 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

Besides her husband, Jessie Ward, and her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by four sisters, Leola, Anna Mae, Mable and Gloria; and five brothers, Floyd, Thomas, Phillip, Chester and James.

The embrace of Elizabeth’s love will forever resonate within our hearts. As we gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well-lived, a public viewing and family visitation will be held, Monday June 10, 2024, at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Avene, at 10:00am.

The Celebration of Her Life Services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. J. Dwayne Heard serving as the celebrant. These community gatherings will be an opportunity for all who cherished Mama Liz to pay their respects, share stories, and remember the sweetness of her presence.

At the conclusion of the committal service, she will be interred at the Tod Homestead Cemetery. May the essence of Mama Liz’s spirit soar among the heavens, forever watching over us with a smile that echoes through eternity.
