Aletha Rodgers

10/26/1952 - 06/06/2024

Aletha Rodgers, born to Luvenia Rodgers Moore in Memphis Tennessee, October 26, 1952. Aletha attended Hamilton High School and later started a career with Cleo Wrap. She worked over 30 years, being an active union member and shop steward for most her tenure there. Once retired, she began management roles at Rite Aid and CVS pharmacies during her latter work history.

Aletha has been a life-long member of Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C, under the leadership of Bishop W.A. Patterson and Elder Charles E. Jackson Jr. She also became a member of Bountiful Blessings Temple of Deliverance under the most capable leadership of Bishop G.E. Patterson and then, Bishop Milton R. Hawkins, before returning to Holy Temple, the last few years of her life. She remained at Holy Temple until her health failed and she could not attend.

Aletha was the oldest sister and took on the role of ‘big aunt’ to most of her younger cousins. Being a kind heart and loving spirit, she always made herself available to whomever needed her advice or her voice of reason. She was such a great mom and a good friend to so many. Her presence will forever be missed…

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving mother, Luvenia Rodgers Moore: two children, Toria Lashun (Curtis) and Julian Lamont (Tamara): her only sister, Aubrey Jean Rodgers, who assisted with her care until her transition. Also, two grandsons, Carrington Warren and Jacobe Rodgers, two granddaughters, Brentale Price and Shantavia Wilson, all of Memphis. In her lifetime, she was gifted with a few ‘special god children’ she treated like her very own and a host of cousins, young and old to keep her legacy alive.

The family has scheduled a viewing from 9:00 until 9:55 a.m. with service of celebration to follow 10 a.m. on Saturday June 15, 2024 at R. S. Lewis Funeral Home 3651 Austin Peay Hwy.
