Clarice Davenport (Wilson-Staples) was born to the late Arthur and Ruth Davenport on
August 18, 1955 in Memphis, TN. Clarice was the youngest of ten children.
Clarice professed her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at a young age. She
attended Monumental Baptist Church where she served as church secretary under the
supervision of Reverend Samuel Billy Kyles until she graduated from high school.
During her early journey, Clarice graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in
the class of 1973. She attended Union University majoring in Communications. She
worked in Human Resources and IT. She later enrolled in the United States Air Force
and was Honorably Discharged. She enjoyed preparing meals, singing, watching tv, and
to fellowship with family and friends.
Clarice transitioned from her earthly home to eternal life on May 22, 2024 at Methodist
North Hospital.
Clarice was preceded in death by her daughter, LaTosha Jackson, two brothers, Lamar
Embry (Betty) and Arthur Davenport, Jr., Jean Wilkins, Betty Sims, and Joyce Booker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two grandchildren, Keyana Lampkins and Markevion
Jackson; four siblings, Ruby Conley (Blytheville, AR), Mary Jackson (Southhaven, MS),
Doris Brinkley (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Vernita Doston (Memphis, TN), and Betty
Embry, Sister-In-Law (Memphis, TN). She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews
spread throughout the country to celebrate the loving memories of her life.
The Celebration of Life will be Friday, June 28th, 9am at The West State Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
