Mother Lizzie Mae Thomas was born on May 13, 1925 in Worth County, Georgia to the late Mr. Cleveland and Mrs. Lula Greene Williams.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church until her health declined. She was married to the late Mr. John Henry Thomas until his passing in 1992.
Mother Thomas was known for her wonderful cooking and baking her favorite desserts. Mother Thomas was always willing to help others in any way she could.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Lula Williams; her husband, John Henry Thomas; two bonus children, Frederick Thomas and Dorothy Moran; one bonus grandson, Shannon Williams; four sisters, Lizzie Mae Jacobs, Sharlet Carter, Lola Baker and Estella Uddyback; two brothers, Leo Williams and Freddie Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her loving and devoted daughter, Pamela Thomas (Kenneth) of Valdosta, GA; a special and caring goddaughter that cared for her like a mother, Barbara Dix (James) of Valdosta, GA; two loving and supportive nieces, Helon Roberson of Valdosta, GA and Geraldine Price of Jacksonville, FL; two bonus children, Gloria Christmas of New Brunswick, NJ and Fred Thomas (Velma) of Hahira, GA; one sister-in-law, Leola Williams of New York; eleven bonus grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The celebration of life will be held Friday, July 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 419 South Ashley Street, Valdosta, GA 31601. Rev. James McKenzie, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
