I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kepth the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ( II Timothy 4:7-8 )

Roger Kennedy Tisdale, son of the late Charles William Tisdale and Velma Davis Tisdale was born on July 22, 1961, in Baskerville, Virginia. He departed this life on June 23, 2024, in UVA Health University Hospital, Charlottesville, VA after a courage battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Alexander and brother-in-law, Howard Lee Alexander.

Roger was baptized at Venture Grove Baptist Church at a young age. He attended the Mecklenburg County Public Schools.

Roger was employed with Dura Turf Farm Services for more than 30 years. He was an avid mechanic and recently worked for Circle W Farms and CD Transport Inc. He also found enjoyment working on vehicles for family and friends, cutting grass and spending time outside.

On August 27, 1988, he married the love of his life, Rachel Tisdale, and to this union two children were born.

Roger leaves to cherish his memory: his wife- Rachel Tisdale of the home; daughter- Alexandria Tisdale (Shawn), Petersburg, VA; son- Justyn Tisdale (Destiney), Richmond VA; sisters- Rev. Annabelle Tisdale, Oxon Hill, MD; Wanda Alexander, South Hill, VA; Brenda Martin, Creedmoor, NC; brothers- Arthur Tisdale (Deloris), Gatlin, TN, Earl Matthew Tisdale, Danville, VA; mother-in-law, Lucy Alexander, South Hill, VA; brothers-in-law, Charles (Mary) Alexander and Robert Alexander, all of South Hill, VA; sisters-in-law, Betty Alexander, Richmond, VA; Laverne (Dwayne) Tatum and Hattie (Kenneth) Jones, all of South Hill, VA; aunt- Barbara Tanks, Trenton, SC; uncle- Wesley Woodson, Union Level, VA; Stanley Woodson, Lawrenceville, VA; God Child- Charlea Elliott, Baltimore, MD; devoted friends- Darcelle Jones, Lee Walker, Irvin Woodson, Donald Patillo, Larry Crenshaw, Shannon Phillips, and Sherwin Woodson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; devoted family pets- Jake and Diamond.
