Alma Gallman, 88, loving wife, mother, and grandmother died peacefully on July 8, 2024. Alma was born in Sardis, GA to Parthine Tanksley. Alma was blessed to have been part of a blended family that gave exceptional love.
Alma met and married Henry L. Gallman, who was stationed at Camp Gordon. They were blessed with two daughters. During Alma’s adventurous travels as a military spouse, she lived in and Germany and several other countries. She had opportunities to be involved with the NCO wives club, her girls dance recitals, where she made costumes for many. She worked for many years as a Department of Defense employee gaining GS status as a telephone operator. After giving exemplary service to the government, she finally retired to enjoy a life of leisure. Alma was a fighter and an amazing woman. She had a beautiful soul, full of kindness, compassion and a zest for life.
Her presence will always be missed, and her legacy will always live on through family and the many she touched.
Alma never failed to be anything less than excellent, as a wife, mother, grandmother, Mimi and a loyal friend.
Alma is preceded in death by her mother and 22 siblings. She is survived by her husband, Henry L. Gallman, two daughters, Wanda Gale Wade and Sheila C. (Donnell) Binford, her five grandchildren, Revard Smith, Rafer Wade, Darrell Binford, Daylon Binford and Taja Binford. She is also survived by six siblings, George Utley, Ruth Morris, Marshall (Julia) Utley, Rush Utley, Charles (Brenda) Utley and Cynthia Utley. A special family that visited her often, took her to lunch, bingo and loved her unconditionally. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Bottsford Baptist Church, 2154 Seven Oaks Road, Waynesboro, Ga. The family will receive friends from 4 pm to 6 pm, Friday, the 19th, at Kinsey & Walton Funeral Home, 3618 Peach Orchard Road. (706) 790-8858
