WHITEHOUSE--The celebration of life for Mr. Robert Lee Pettigrew, 93, will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Whitehouse Church of God in Christ with Elder Waymon Stewart as eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.
Mr. Pettigrew was born December 26, 1930 to the late Roosevelt Sr. and Annie Vera Pettigrew. He transitioned on July 23, 2024 in Tyler, TX surrounded by family.
Mr. Pettigrew attended Stanton High School. After attending school, he was drafted into the United States Army. Robert completed his tour duty in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954 after serving two years. He was employed by the United States Postal Service until retirement after 42 years. His retirement was fulfilled by fishing, gardening and traveling. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and wisdom that touched the lives of those who knew him. He had a gentle spirit and infectious sense of humor.
Mr. Pettigrew was preceded in death by his parents; his lovely wife, Delois; one son; one sister; four brothers; one daughter-in-love; and three sons-in-love. Left to cherish his precious memories are sons, Clarence Pettigrew and Ravon (Felecia) Pettigrew; daughters, Lanette White, Brenda (James) Bowie, Beverly Campbell and Angela Foster; daughter-in-love, Thomasina Pettigrew, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
