Mr. Leo Smith Jr.

Mr. Leo Smith Jr., 68, of Gadsden, AL, passed away on Friday, July 26,2024.

He is survived by his loving family.

Mr. Leo Smith Jr. was born in Gadsden, AL, to Mr. Leo Smith Sr. and Lola McCarriel Smith on January 18, 1956. He was the 6th oldest of his 12 siblings. Mr. Leo united in marriage to his lovely wife Vickie Alford on November 19, 1982. They celebrated 41 years of marriage this past year. To their union, two children, Traci and Darrell Smith were born.

Mr. Leo Smith was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot after 30 years as a Missile Operator.

Mr. Leo was very well known by his community as an honest and caring law-abiding citizen. He was an exceptional father, exemplary husband, compassionate brother, generous uncle, devoted Christian, kindhearted friend, and the sweetest grandfather a child could ever be blessed with.

Mr. Leo enjoyed going for long walks and keeping up with the news, but as he got older, his only hobby consisted of spending time with his grandchildren, Levi Smith and Landyn Smith.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Vickie Smith; children Traci Michelle Smith of Gadsden, AL, and Darrell (Regina) Smith of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren Levi Smith and Landyn Smith; siblings Cathy Smith and Angela Smith, both of Gadsden, Robert Lee (Alvia) Smith of Saks, AL., Freddie (Danita) Smith of Gadsden, AL., and Gary (Donna) Smith of Snellville, GA.; In-Laws Larry King Sr., Valery (Gwendolyn) Alford Sr. both of Gadsden, AL., Rodney (Renee) Alford of Huntsville, AL., Jackie Smith of New Albany, IN., Elizabeth Smith and Karen Smith, both of Atlanta, GA.; Mother in Law Mary D. Alford of Gadsden, AL., along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 from 2pm-6pm.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 12noon at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Pastor Roderick Thomas.

Eulogist: Pastor Bruce Alford of Blessed Assurance Church, Columbus, GA.

Burial will be at Lincoln Hill Cemetery.
