Funeral service for Retired (SFC) Cilvester Jiles, 79, of Opelika, AL, will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Little Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, 188 Lee Road 695, Opelika, AL 36804. Military Honors will be at 11:30 a.m. (CST),Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, 553 Highway 165, Ft. Mitchell, AL 36856, Reverend Hubert Brown, Pastor, Reverend James Q. Smith, Eulogist.

Mr. Jiles, who passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at his home in Opelika, Alabama, was born August 16, 1944, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Monday, August 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Jiles will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Sherry L. Jiles of Opelika, AL; two sons, Deangelo Jiles and Sabian Jiles both of Opelika, AL; one daughter, Cilvetta Jiles Johnson of Opelika, AL; two sons that he loved and treated as his own, Reginald Jiles and Cipi Jiles both of Opelika, AL; one sister, Mary Ann (George) Sanford of San Antonio, TX; a nephew as a brother, Ronnie (Lucretia) Giles of Opelika, AL; two sisters-in-law, Linda Giles of Richland, NC and Sylvia (Bernard) Brewer of Snellville, GA; three brothers-in-law, Lowgene Carter of Warren, OH, William (Jerelene) Cooper and Kenneth (Janifur) Stringer both of Opelika, AL; eight grandchildren Tiesha, Deangelo Jr, Sierra, Saniya, Savannah, Kairi, Zavian, and Skylar all of Opelika, AL; one special friend that he looked at as his brother, James “Pig” Hughley of Opelika, AL; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
