William “Bill” E. Pickett 62, of Youngstown Ohio was born February 15, 1962. He was born in Sewickley Pennsylvania to the loving parents of George and Ruth Pickett. A life filled with kindness, laughter, and so much love was called home to be with the lord on July 30, 2024. Bill was a beloved father, adored son, cherished brother, talented chef, and a faithful friend to so many.
Bill graduated from Farrell High School in 1980 and has been a professional chef ever since, leaving his culinary arts mark in many restaurants such as Shenango inn, Tara A Country Inn and the Days Inn.
Bill had a deep love for music, some of his favorite artists were Prince, KC and the Sunshine band, and Morris Day and the Time. His passion for Prince is what drew the love and union of Bill and his best friend Jonita Simmers.
Bill was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, American Ninja Warrior and spending time with his kids. Bill recently took on the role of being a full-time caregiver to his newly paralyzed grand dog Ninja. Bill and Ninja enjoyed sitting on the porch together soaking in the sun and taking naps on the couch together.
Bill leaves to embrace his enduring love and legacy, his father George Pickett of Meadville Pennsylvania; sister Javerna Chapman of Jonesboro Georgia; his former wife Jonita Simmers of Sharon Pennsylvania; and three wonderful children, son Aaron “Mikey” Evans and wife Alicia of Youngstown; daughters D’Ondrea “Dea” Pickett of Sharon Pennsylvania and Ja’Nyce “Noelle” Pickett of Youngstown, along with a large score of cousins and friends that considered him family.
Bill served as a father figure to countless of friends of his own children and welcomed everyone with open arms. He leaves endless precious memories to a cadre of people and will be greatly missed by many.
Bill obtained his wings and was welcomed at Heaven’s gate by his mother Ruth Pickett and his best friend who he considered like a brother Sydney “Beanie” Marshall Morgan
The celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday August 9, 2024, at Ruth AME Zion Church, 95 West Connelly Blvd., in Sharon, Pennsylvania with Rev. Marion G. Wheeler Jr., serving as the celebrant. Calling hours will be held from 10:30am until 11am and the service will be immediately following.
The Pickett Family finds peace in the knowledge that Bill’s memory and legacy shall forever be enshrined in the tapestry of time, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived and a heart that beats with unwavering love.
