Petrona Cunard, age of 42 passed away on July 29, 2024. “Pet” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends never really met a stranger. Pet was born in St. Kitts and grew up in St. Thomas USVI. Her kind and giving personality could engage anyone in a conversation. She enjoyed giving of her time to her daughter’s school, donating gifts when and where needed, and yes, giving a stranger water, advice, and a prayer. Helping those in need was a trait she imparted to her daughters. Professionally, Pet was a Licensed Vocational Nurse who worked in hospice care and in orthopedic surgery. But if you asked her, her biggest and proudest life accomplishment was caring for her two daughters, Azaria (Zi) and Teagan (Tiggy). There is nothing she wouldn’t do for them. Yes, on many occasions she took the long way to school so they could finish singing a song to make sure everyone was ready and confident for a GREAT day. What else did Pet like to do? She loved cooking for her family. The family rarely saw the need to go out and eat, because whatever they were going to order wasn’t going to be nearly as good as Pet’s cooking. “What do you want to eat?” she would ask. Everyone would call out their preference and she would say, “you got it.” For birthdays, she didn’t just bake you a cake, she baked you a seven tiered, your favorite frosting and filling birthday cake! This they will miss. Pet is survived by her husband of 18 years, Taylor Cunard; her beautiful daughters that she adored, Azaria (Zi) and Teagan (Tiggy) Cunard; mother, Sheloch (Shiela) Williams; father, Nyron Williams; sister, Crystal Williams; brothers, Chuck, Vixking, and CJ; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
