Jetty Mae Howard

Jetty Mae Howard, a devoted educator and dedicated member of her community, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Canton, Ohio. Born on September 19, 1944, she was the second child of Fletcher and Jennie Howard.

Jetty graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, and Prince George's College in La Plata, Maryland. She had a fulfilling career as an assistant teacher at Belden Elementary and retired from the Hoover Company.

Jetty was a lifelong member of South East Church of Christ, where she was baptized at an early age and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also an active participant in various community organizations, including the South West Association of Neighbors, Toastmasters Club 443, and missionary work. Jetty enjoyed taking long walks, singing in church, and cooking her signature dishes, including sweet potato and peach cobbler pies. She will be remembered for her kindness, elegance, and dedication to her family and community.

To mourn her passing but to rejoice in her ultimate victory, She leaves behind her beloved daughters Ruth (Miguel) Spindola and Leanne Howard, grandchildren Kala (Raymond) Dingle, Deverick (Tierra) Howard, Miguel Spindola Jr., Jaidin Howard, and Julian Spindola, and great-grandchildren Kaidin Howard, Ava Dingle, and Zarah Howard to cherish her memory and uphold her enduring legacy.

Precious memories of Jetty will be retained by her brothers Fletcher Howard of Canton, OH, James Howard of Dallas, TX, and Charles (Jackie) Howard of Gautier, MS, and sister Patricia Howard of Canton, Ohio, as well as a score of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends, who will also cherish her memory.

Jetty Howard was preceded into eternity by her beloved parents Fletcher and Jennie Lee Howard, and brothers Leo (Joan) Howard and Calvin (Elaine) Howard in death.

A woman of grace and integrity, Jetty will be remembered for her wisdom, her laughter, and her unwavering love for her family. In the quiet moments, her presence will be felt, her memory a beacon of hope and love.

As we gather to honor and celebrate her life, the community is welcomed to pay respects during the public viewing on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Southeast Church of Christ, 1424 Allen Ave SE., Canton, OH, from 5:00-7:00pm. On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the same sacred location, there will be a public viewing and family visitation from 9-10:30am.

The Celebration of Life services will begin at 10:30am with Brother Larry Battle presiding. Jetty Mae's final resting place awaits at Forest Hill Cemetery, 4414 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709, where she will find eternal peace amongst the blossoms of a cherished burial ground. The proceedings will conclude with a committal service.
