Mother Frances Turner aka “ Ma France “ was born in the Baptist Side neighborhood in Chesnee, South Carolina and she made her transition at Hendersonville Health and Rehab Retirement Home located in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Frances was the 4th child born from her Mother, our beloved Ancestor, the late Mamie Turner (1897 - 1987). Frances had 6 siblings : Geneva Dawkins, Noah Turner, Inena Camp, Norman and John Alfred Turner and Alice Ruth Turner Alston and she had the longest lifespan of them all.
Actually, Frances was a Centenarian. A Centenarian is a Human Being who lives a century (100 years + ) and beyond on this planet we call earth. Frances was a member of a group that made her incredibly rare and quite special. Frances was 1 of 88,000 people who lived beyond year 100 in the United States. Another remarkable fact was that her mind was still as sharp as a razor. She kept an immaculately clean house and would still get in the kitchen to cook and bake.
Frances was blessed with the ability of leaving her mark on the planet by giving birth to four children: Warren Turner (Mary) of Gaffney, SC, Douglas Turner of Norfolk, Virginia and two deceased : Margaret Green of Duncan, SC ( 1950-2016 ) and Earl Turner of Hendersonville, NC ( 1962-1978 ).
In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish fond memories: three grandchildren, Karen Mackerson, Rodney Green both of Chesnee,SC and Tracy Green of Winston Salem NC; numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
Frances would be introduced to the housekeeping industry in the 1950’s through her sister Inena and that is how she landed in Hendersonville, NC . She had an incredible knack for caregiving and that made her quite successful in that field. She was a resident of Hendersonville for 70 plus years and was well known and loved by so many individuals throughout the community regardless of class or race. Frances had the type of personality that made her unforgettable. We can not imagine all of the things she has seen, all of the changes she's been through, all of the people who have come and gone and she stood firm for as long as she could....
Now, we the surviving family, friends and acquaintances shall salute you and never forget our beloved Centenarian Ancestor...Mother Frances Turner aka Ma France. Upon special request from the immediate family, we would like to thank : The McConnachie Family, Stephanie Bryant and Stacey Williams for their amazing assistance, unconditional support and love for Frances.
